1 tablespoon butter 1 cup hot water Rub flour and butter until it looks like fine breadcrumbs. Add pinch of salt and enough milk to mix until it turns into dough. Roll out flat and spread the jam over the base then roll into a log. Place in an oven proof dish. Combine sugar, butter and water together in a bowl then pour on top of the log. Bake in moderate oven (180°C/350°F) for 30-40 minutes or until golden brown. Hint: For all your Canadians out there, if you don’t have any self-raising flour in your home, this is how you make it from All Purpose Flour. Add 1½ teaspoon baking powder & ½ teaspoon of salt.
